The Penal Legion Squads Came and Went

With the change from Imperial Guard to Astra Militarum the penal legion went. What happened to all these squads of penal legion canon fodder?

In a game mechanic sense they were not so good but they could be fun if taking a beating was fun. With the reorganisation of the Imperial Guard to the Astra Militarum their previous serious indiscretions have been forgiven for continuing service to the Imperium and the Emperor and the 2 squads have been adopted in to a small platoon as part of the new Astra Militarum force organisation. It has also been an opportunity to reuse some older minis languishing in the bits box. Here is their new command squad.

It comprises 2 Mordian Iron Guard, one old style ratling an original rogue trader metal Imperial Guard and a storm trooper.

The conscript squad are also undergoing a reorganisation to make them in to a proper squad.

Conscripts:

An abhuman mob rounded up as the dregs of the System are scraped for grunts to rebel against the Imperium.

Questoris Knight Magaera

The second Imperial Knight is now finished. The plan is for three to make the smallest primary detachment for an basic Imperial Knight army detachment to ally with other Imperial factions, probably Adepta Sororitas and the Inquisition.
Here are some pictures of the Questoris Knight Magaera and the 2 Knights together.

Sydonian Dragoon - Sometime things just dont work out

A toe dip in to the Adeptus Mechanicum selection of minis, the Sydonian Dragoon seemed an interesting model to construct and use on the table top, but sometimes things just don't work out. A highly detailed kit but with so many small fragile pieces that it was a nightmare to clean flashing, construct without damage from heavy fingers and paint without contortion.

It might have been easier to paint the entire mini before construction instead of as usual constructing segments, legs, hull and rider separately and then painting. At the end I have lost any enthusiasm for adding a collection of Mechanicum minis to assist the Astra Militarum in their fight against the darkness of defeat.

Anyway here are some pictures:

Back After a Long Hiatus

The Forgeworld Questoris Knight Magaera has progressed. Its not finished yet but the colour scheme has finally come together so that it is the same but different from the original Imperial Knight. Obviously it will be some time before it is finished but I am pleased that I know have some time for the hobby again.

The plan is still a Freeblade Imperial Knight company - 3 models - to support my renegade Imperial Guard -Astra Militarum - which is currently light on tanks as most were sold on ebay.
